APS Walk for Life 2026

FR. MARUSKIN COUNCIL #10936

Stow-Hudson-Peninsula

The members of Fr. Maruskin Council #10936 thank Holy Family parishioners for supporting the Baby Bottle Boomerang project we’ve used over the past few years to raise money for the Akron Pregnancy Services (APS) Pregnancy Center. It has been effective due to parishioner generosity, but not very efficient because of the large number of bottles and the amount of loose change involved.

This year, the Knights will be taking part in the APS Walk for Life, which is typically held near the organization’s downtown offices at the Robinson House on Buchtel Avenue on the Saturday following Mother’s Day—May 16 this year. Teams form and then solicit pledges from organizations, families, and friends willing to support their participation in the walk. It is all done digitally, with APS collecting and reporting all donations back to the individual teams.

Support the Knights of Columbus in the Walk for Life

In support of the Walk for Life, Fr. Maruskin Council #10936 has formed three teams led by active members who have previously served as Grand Knights. Each team is named in honor of one of the guiding principles of the Council:

  • Team Charity – Bob Eikenburg (Captain), Neil Durbin
  • Team Unity – Don White (Captain), Pat Rynd
  • Team Fraternity – Ron Crock (Captain), Jerry Chiurazzi

Each team begins with an initial $500 in Council funds, which is eligible for Aid and Support After Pregnancy reimbursement through the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council. Additional contributions may be made directly to the team of your choice through the donation links provided on this page, allowing supporters to easily select and support the team they wish to sponsor.

Charity – Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Members of the Knights of Columbus show love for their neighbors by conducting food drives and donating the food to local soup kitchens and food pantries, by volunteering at Special Olympics, and by supporting, both spiritually and materially, mothers who choose life for their babies. Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer every day.

Don White (Captain), Pat Rynd

Unity – None of us is as good as all of us. Members of the Knights of Columbus all know that – together – we can accomplish far more than any of us could individually. So we stick together…we support one another. That doesn’t mean that we always agree or that there is never a difference of opinion. It does mean that – as a Knight of Columbus – you can count on the support and encouragement of your brother Knights as you work to make life better in your parish and community.

Ron Crock (Captain), Jerry Chiurazzi

Fraternity - Promotes a Christ-centered brotherhood, encouraging members to grow in virtue and providing mutual support to fellow Knights and their families through fellowship and spiritual encouragement.
