Guidance and Support for Funeral Planning

Dear Friend in Christ,

We know that planning the funeral of a loved one can be a very difficult task. As you begin your planning, we want to first assure you of our prayers as you prepare and plan for the Mass of Christian Burial for your departed loved one. It is our hope that your participation in the planning and celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial provides consolation and support to you at this difficult time.

To assist you, we have put together this information to assist you in your planning. We suggest that you start by downloading the Funeral Guide below.

Once you do this, the guide will provide you with the basics for planning the Funeral. There, you will find some suggestions for the First and Second Reading, along with song suggestions for the Opening, Offertory, Communion and Closing processions and for the Responsorial Psalm between the readings.

In addition to the selections offered in the Funeral Guide, here, on this webpage, we have provided you with the full text of the most commonly selected First and Second Readings. Please feel free to read through these and choose those that seem most appropriate for you and your loved one.

Finally, you may also find here a copy of the most commonly used petitions for Funerals.
