OCIA

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly known as RCIA, is a beautiful and sacred journey of faith through which those seeking the Catholic faith are introduced to the life, teachings, and sacraments of the Church. Rooted in the ancient traditions of the early Church, this process invites individuals, whether unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or baptized Catholic but not fully catechized, into a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church.

Through prayer, study, reflection on the Scriptures, and participation in the liturgy, participants are formed spiritually and communally. The OCIA is not a “class” but, instead, a pastoral path of conversion and discipleship, supported by the love and witness of the parish community. It culminates in the celebration of the sacraments of initiation; Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, generally at the Easter Vigil, when new members are joyfully welcomed into full communion with the Holy Catholic Church.
