
What is Virtus Training?
The VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children® program provides essential training for adults to help create and maintain safe environments for children. Through certified facilitators, participants learn to recognize warning signs, understand how abuse is often perpetrated, and practice simple, effective steps to prevent it. This training supports our parish’s commitment to vigilance, accountability, and the protection of all God’s children.

All volunteers working with children at Holy Family Parish are required to complete a three hour VIRTUS training program which focuses on educating teachers, parents, and other adults who interact with children about sexual abuse and providing them with information to help prevent abuse. The training session consist of videos, worksheets and discussions which empower people to better control risks and improve the safety of our children. (The information below is explained at the training sessions.)
In addition to the VIRTUS class, all volunteers are required to complete the following:

Join Selection.com
Once you create an account on VIRTUS Online, you can access the Toolbox tab on the menu bar to create your Selection.com account. This account will be linked directly to your VIRTUS account and is used to conduct background checks.
- Log into your VIRTUS account at virtusonline.org
- Click TOOLBOX on the top bar
- Choose the Selection.com background check on the sidebar
- Continue the registration process
