Joan Skalak, pastoral minister, has been a part of Holy Family’s pastoral staff since 1998. Her ministry involves all aspect of the older adult's life - providing social, educational and spiritual activities. Her responsibilities include but are not limited to Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers for the Sick, Bereavement Team, Adult Confirmation, and bi-annual study groups about the Bible or other spiritual topics. Joan also has implemented social and service groups such as Christ Crafters, Nifty Fifty Plus Lunch Group and the most recent a support group for those living with diabetes.
Joan graduated from Ursuline College, cum laude with a degree in Religion Studies. She was certified for the Diocese of Cleveland in 1992 and served the parishes of SS. Cosmas and Damian and St. Bartholomew before joining the pastoral staff at Holy Family.
Joan has been married for 45 years to her husband Don. They raised eight children and are blessed with eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Joan enjoys crocheting, knitting and writing poetry.
