PSR - Parish School of Religion

Designed for children in public school grades 1-8, Holy Family's Parish School of Religion (PSR) is the BASIC religious education program offered to parish families. Registration is required and children attend grade level classes from 10:45am-12:00pm on Sunday mornings throughout the school year. Catechists use Harcourt Publisher's religion textbooks as a basis for each week's lesson. In addition, children experience various prayer opportunities and explore the Bible, particularly the upcoming Sunday's Gospel reading. To enrich the children's religious education, art and music classes are also offered throughout the school year. To register, complete the PSR portion of the Religious Education Registration Form and the Emergency Health Form and return it to the rectory by August 15th.

Called to Protect, a program which helps children protect themselves against sexual abuse, is part of the religious education curriculum for the Diocese of Cleveland. This program was introduced to parents and children in our PSR program in 2009. All children in Holy Family's PSR program will continue to participate in this program for three weeks this fall. Catechists have been trained to teach this material and are excited to continue to empower children with the knowledge to help keep themselves safe. Parents will be invited to attend a meeting to become familiar with the Called to Protect program and learn strategies for protecting their children .

Families are encouraged to participate in TEAM events throughout the year. Based on a yearly theme, TEAM is an intergenerational program that is especially geared to families who want MORE than the basics for their children and themselves. We will kick off this year with a potluck dinner following 5:00 Mass on September 10th. Other events are scheduled for October, November, January and March and will begin at 9:15am with a breakfast snack, followed by activities around the theme. We conclude each event by attending 11:30 Mass together. To register, complete the TEAM portion of the Religious Education Registration Form. There is no PSR on the weeks when TEAM takes place.
